The whole idea of Wellesley Central Residences is to fulfill the greatest unmet need in our community — safe, supportive housing for seniors and those living with HIV/AIDS.
Wellesley Central Residences provides a supportive, encouraging environment that allows clients to feel a part of the community — inside and out. Whether they’re interacting with staff, fellow residences or taking part in the world beyond their front door, Wellesley gives them a nurturing place to thrive and grow.
Wellesley is focused on advancing community partnerships — innovating the way organizations/agencies collaborate to provide supportive housing, services and advocacy for those living with HIV/AIDS, the LGBT community and seniors. Our goal is to create a model that can be used to help communities nationwide.
Wellesley Central Residences can trace its roots back to the Wellesley Central Hospital. Founded in 1910 by Dr. Herbert Bruce, a Toronto physician, the Hospital’s motto was “Jamais sans experience” (never without hope). This principal continues to guide us in our actions and deeds today.
